VOTE FOR ME because I am against the Bruce Ratner's Community Benefits Agreement: Atlantic Yards Project. How contemptible is this? These are the people who care so deeply about bona fide issues…unlike Community Average Folk who do not have bona fide issues and can not think for themselves.
DO NOT VOTE for me because I am the best candidate! DO NOT VOTE for me because my platform is great! JUST VOTE for me because _____________! But better yet...JUST VOTE for me because I am against the Bruce Ratner's Community Benefits Agreement: Atlantic Yards Project.
Community Average Folk...VOTE in the next election wisely for the candidate that you believe will support, defend and fight for your issues. Not just because they are against the Bruce Ratner’s Community Benefits Agreement: Atlantic Yards Project. Chris Owens is going to get votes just because he is against the project. Now this is politics at it's best. This is definitely a good reason to vote for their candidate. Let Chris Owens change his position before the election and see what happens to him. It would be amusing if he got in office and changed his position wouldn't it? Maybe he is using them just to get into office. Whose not to say that Community Average Folk are not smarter than they think? I agree that it's an interesting political calculation and risky.
Once again, do not under estimate the voting power of the Community Average Folk. Public housing communities can make a big difference in the election. All that is needed is a little motivation and Community Average Folks are starting to get fed up with this rhetoric.

It is a shame that the politics of today has become so narrow minded, race and project oriented. What happened to "true polotics" where we wanted our politians to help us in making useful and positive decisions. It looks like the only concerns they feel should be addressed are of those who already have and the have nots should be left out in the cold. It is no longer acceptable to the communities that have some loud voices, but have been unheard, it is time for those who ignored or paid little or no attention to the struggling over the years, change is here so get with the program. We are tired of scraps (if any) that have trickeled down to the less fortunate. We may not have the tools that others have that gives them a louder voice than ours, but we are not going to just sit this one out we will get out to the public the best that we can, we are not going to disappear. So look out race card holders you no longer have a hiding place. It is going to be made clear you have done little or nothing for those you claim to have best interest in/for. The fact that it took a white gentleman to come out to help the suffering now you want to do something, yeah right you had ample time to have an impact on the concerns of the suffering communities, where were you then we don't want your empty words of promises. They obivously had no meaning in the past why should we trust you now? If David Yassky wasn't running for this office would you have begun to organize in the manner in which you have as of late. Is he the primary focus that should have your attention or should it be the people that have great need? The Atlantic Yard Project has been paid attention to, but the bigger picture in the downtown brooklyn area has been ignored, the massive development that is in a progressive state, these projects are not meant for those in need so there is no concern expressed by the AYP opponents. These projects fit them personally and helps to eliminate the people that are not wealthy.

Dear, CAF101, I think that one reason why such single issues become so prominent is that local elected politicians have become so unresponsive to local concerns - partly because they are more concerned with winning the approval of their peers and advancing within their party, which in turn is a function of how little they are able to do. Marty Markowitz is much more responsive to Bruce Ratner than to the thousands of project opponents because Bruce can do something for him, and because he has a small amount of power to advance Ratner's agenda - much moe than he can improve the lives of ordinary Brooklynites.

If Martin Luther king couldn't totally save our people you think this dumb ass white rich greedy jack ass brucer ratner can?
Concerned citizen if you think the people fighting this project are the "enemy" then you are smoking some good good stuff.
Faith in bruce ratner as some social savior is just sad, and devoid of any thought of reality. He builds malls people, wake up, he is not the piper, he is not a leader..infact he has no voice, no presence what so ever..have you ever HEARD bruce ratner...does he speak like a visionary? no he is the same historical white, rich guy who gives not a crap about you, or poor people.
WAKE THE HELL UP!!!!!

Dear anonymous 1:24 AM, concerned citizen thanks you for your comments and by the way what I now smoke is called the power of Jesus I am high on the Lord, which equates to love thy brothers and sisters, that includes you and multitudes of others.
My concerns stem from the hurt and pain that I see everday in my community. I am clearly aware of the need to be weary of the words that come from all of these high powered men and women in the private sector as well as the public.
My question to all those who oppose our decision to support with concern, are you willing to give up your priorities to help us fight to bring up groups of young people who have found that the people in charge have neglected them and left them wondering the wilderness aimlessly with very little to do to enhance themselves?
Just take a look at the investments that were made years before and so little now.
I think you have a right to take your position on this project and others, but give me that same curtiousy.
